Emotions still do exist when you heal

For a long time, I thought I wasn’t healing because I still cried over certain things, or because anger still came up when I remembered painful moments. I believed that healing meant a “perfect” reaction — no tears, no anger, no sadness.

But I’ve learned something different. Just because an emotion is still attached to a memory does not mean you aren’t healed. It means you’re human. It means that memory was real, it mattered, and your heart remembers.

Healing isn’t about erasing emotions. Healing is about how you hold them, how you respond to them. When your reaction to that emotion no longer creates chaos, but instead allows space for grief, for mourning, or simply for feeling — that’s healing.

So if you still cry sometimes, you are not broken. If sadness still washes over you, you are not failing. You are practicing emotional safety. You are honoring yourself.

And that’s the real ending — not perfection, but practice. Not silence, but peace. Not the absence of pain, but the presence of safety within it.
